B&E leads to arson

On October 30th Amanda Watson, 39, of 1836 Estes Road in Ruffin was victim of a breaking and entering of her residence. She reported loss of a computer, television, DVD player, stereo and other items from her residence with a total value over $4,000. It would appear, that after the larceny, the suspect(s) intentionally set the residence on fire.

The victim’s son was last to leave the residence at about 9:40 that morning. A neighbor noticed the fire at about 11:20 and called for assistance. The house suffered significant damage by fire.

Detective Scott Brame is currently working the case and asks anyone with information to call him at 336-634-3238 or call Crimestoppers at 349-9683.

Kennon charged with murder in shooting of 18-y/o

Last night at about 11:00, deputies were dispatched to a reported “shooting” at 183 Brightwood Road in Eden. Upon arrival, Deputy K.M. Fulton reported meeting an irate and uncooperative “Bo” Kennon, 42, of that address.

Deputy Fulton made her way near the door of the living room and found Travis Clark, 18, of that address. He had suffered an obvious gunshot wound.

The scene was then secured, and detectives were called to investigate the incident. Initial results of that investigation indicated that a domestic argument had occurred between “Bo” Kennon and Lynette Dawson Clark that led to the shooting death of her 18 year-old son, Travis.

At 4:40 this morning, Emmett Jasper “Bo” Kennon, Jr. was charged with FIRST DEGREE MURDER. He was not given bond and is currently confined in the Rockingham County Detention Facility.
