Durham charged with knocking 84-y/o man's tooth out

Stoneville - Yesterday evening at 4:58, Deputy Jason Joyce was called to 5926 US220 Business in Stoneville. Upon his arrival he found Joseph Samuel Grogan, 84, of that address sitting in a chair on the carport, with blood on his face, shirt and about the carport floor.

According to witnesses, Donnie Lynn Durham, 47, of 185 Lindy Road had been at a residence on the Smith Road and asked to leave. Gay Craddock Durham, 55, stated Donnie left on a moped, but as she followed him away, he turned into the Grogan residence. There was a confrontation between Gay and Donnie and afterwards, Donnie retrieved a beer from beneath the moped seat and began to drink.

Mr. Grogan asked Donnie not to drink on his property. Donnie then used profanity towards Mr. Grogan, and in fact punched him, knocking a tooth from Mr. Grogan’s mouth, and causing significant bleeding. Mr. Grogan has health problems that cause him to be handicapped, including blindness.

Donnie Durham was arrested and charged with Felony Assault on a Handicapped Person and was given a $20,000 secured bond. The deputy reported Donnie Durham to be intoxicated, cursing, and uncooperative during his arrest. He is due in court on October 23rd. Others involved in this incident are seeking warrants for additional charges against Donnie Durham.
