Joyce charged with embezzling from Junior Miss

North Carolina’s Junior Miss officials were approached about the stewardship of the Rockingham County Junior Miss franchise. At that time, the Chairperson was Kimberly Joyce, 38, of 9289 NC Hwy 700 in Ruffin, NC.

In a letter (dated 6-21-07) to Kim Joyce, this concern was expressed, as well as the intentions to allow Tina Kirkman and Deena West to be the new Local Chairpersons of the Rockingham County Program.

Detective Dana Taylor has concluded her investigation of missing scholarship monies with the arrest of Mrs. Joyce. The warrant states that Joyce did feloniously deprive by embezzlement and fraudulently and knowingly misapply and convert to her own use, take and make away with approximately $23,000 in U.S. Currency belonging to Rockingham County Junior Miss.

Sheriff Page: “This is a disappointing episode that frustrates all of us that support the labors of this worthwhile scholarship program. I trust the North Carolina Junior Miss program will overcome this setback.”
