Thief bags tires, tubes and irrigation attachments

Deputies were called to 162 Alcorn Loop because of a reported breaking and entering of Bruce Alcorn’s Garage. While deputies were in route to that location, they were informed that Gary Alcorn arrived at the garage and saw a blue Chrysler parked near the garage and had several items inside the car that had been inside the garage and belonged to Bruce Alcorn. When Gary walked back to his car to call 911, the suspect fled the scene in the Chrysler.

Gary Alcorn attempted to follow the Chrysler as he contacted 911. Deputies found the Chrysler traveling south on Oregon Hill road in excess of 80 miles per hour. The suspect then left the road, parked at a residence on Oregon Hill road in an attempt to elude deputies. The suspect was found, still in the driver’s seat of the Chrysler with racing tires, copper tubing, and an assortment of irrigation attachments that had been stolen from the Alcorn’s garage.

Deputy Mike Edwards charged Rex Allen Walker, 28, of 181 Blue Jay Road in Reidsville with Careless and Reckless Driving, and Driving While License Revoked.

Detective Scott Brame charged Walker with 2 Felony Counts of Breaking & Entering, 2 Counts of Felony Larceny, and 1 Count of Felony Possession of Stolen Goods. The second counts were from a separate crime in June of this year from 1632 Gravel Hill Road. Walker took wheels and tires from a shop at that time as well. He is now in the Rockingham County Jail with a $21,000 bond.
